We’ve Done It Again: Alexandria is Recognized as One of the Best Cities!

We've done it again: Alexandria has been recognized as one of the best cities in the South by Southern Living Magazine! While it comes as no surprise to us locals, it's always a thrill to see our beloved city celebrated alongside other Southern favorites, each with their own unique charm and, as Southern Living puts it, "that special something." What ties them all together is the genuine warmth of Southern hospitality.

Here’s how Southern Living highlighted Alexandria: "Just across the Potomac River from sprawling D.C., Alexandria may feel like a small town when compared to our nation's capital, but there's tons to explore in this historic city. Walk the cobblestoned streets that are lined with locally owned boutiques, delicious restaurants, and charming storefronts. When the riverfront is sparkling and there's a nice breeze in the air, you'll forget why you ever wanted to endure the hustle and bustle of D.C. in the first place."

As spring unfolds, Alexandria has welcomed several new additions that further enrich our charm. Notably, we now have our very own Call Your Mother Deli and Tatte Bakery & Cafe, saving locals the journey across the river for some of our favorite D.C. spots. Additionally, the new opening of Capo Deli on N. Washington Street brings a fresh option for a quick and satisfying lunch, filling the shoes of the previous Old Town Deli.

When talking about what makes our hometown great, we can’t forget what season of the year we are entering—Cherry Blossom season! For someone who loves pink, this is THE time of year to explore our area. From the blooms along Fords Landing in southern Old Town to the trees along the Potomac River trails in Canal Center, it's clear spring is here and ready to greet its visitors.

In essence, Alexandria continues to capture hearts with its blend of historic charm, delicious restaurants and natural beauty. As proud residents, we celebrate this recognition, knowing that our city's charm is one of the many reasons we love to live and work here!
