Unlock Your Best Hair Yet With Tailored Hair Care Solutions

People often become accustomed to a certain hair care product or line because they’ve used it for years. They trust the brand, love the scent, and know precisely just how much to squeeze or spray on to their strands. Except they don’t, because our hair changes over time and so should your products.

There’s a multitude of reasons why: hormones, postpartum, thinning, post-surgery effects of anesthesia, too much time in the sun, too much time in the pool, too much hairdryer…I can go on and on. This is why it’s so important to confide in the person who has their hands in your hair almost as much as you do – your stylist!

There’s no shame in sharing that you have a dry scalp, they can see; it happens to all of us. There’s no shame in using too many heating products – you’re in a rush, you want your hair to look sleek and time is money. But there are solutions.

I’ll use Rainbow, Stylebook’s Managing Editor, as an example. She came in a few months ago for a blowout and said her hair was really dry. After she shared her daily routine, I suggested not using the highest setting on her Dyson hairdryer (which she bought to cut down on drying time), using a heat protector before blow drying (Goldilocks Blow dry spray), trying heatless curling rods (Kitsch) and a silk pillowcase (to cut down on frizz). I also recommend silk bonnets for those who like their pillowcase the cottony way it is. 🙂 When I saw her recently, her hair looked so much healthier. Simple changes can produce big results.

At Salon deZEN, every one of our client’s hair is unique and personalized hair care routines are becoming the norm. Remember your stylist is an expert and has seen it all. They can better advise you than a TikTok influencer who is giving the same hair advice to all their followers. Your hair may not be the same texture as theirs. It’s great to spark ideas, but don’t make another midnight purchase that will sit in your cabinet collecting dust.

So where do you start? At your next appointment, ask your stylist to test out some new products on your mane to see how they work. While you may be super relaxed – and relieved that someone else is doing your hair – ask the questions. “Hey, what’s that serum you just used? And how much, a dime, a quarter-size? And at home should I use it when combing my wet hair or after it’s dry?” There’s no cap on questions. We want you to look your best.

Sometimes a simple shampoo and conditioner switch can produce immediate results. For others, it’s a hair mask, which works particularly well for women with longer hair. Those long locks have been on their head for a bit and need to be nourished differently. For heat damage, it may take a little bit longer to repair. The positive is you’re rebuilding with better hair care practices that will yield results. Olaplex products are particularly clutch for those whose hair has been chemically treated or damaged. One of my personal product tool recommendations from my hair arsenal: the wet brush or backless detangling brush. This is good for everyone, regardless of hair type.

When you call or click to make your next appointment, don’t be shy. Add a note to the reservation: **Chat with stylist about products**, so they can add some time to your slot and you don’t feel rushed.

Come visit us at Salon DeZEN, we’ll make the most of your coveted time, and you’ll leave looking and feeling fabulous!
